Bushcraft is the art of self-reliance, dependence of things and other people out in the wild. To succeed you need skills, knowledge and a deep understanding of nature to be able to provide food and shelter. The most basic, necessary and versatile tool for the bushcraft practitioner is the knife. It is used for making fire, food preperation, tool manufacturing and hunting among other things. This project aims at developing a well balanced tool for bushcraft and hunting.
To understand the context and the end-user, the starting research approach has been to make prototypes and to get them in the hands of people with the appropriate experience. Using probe kits as a research method has been a great way to reach out these people. The test subjects are encouraged to make nots of their experiences and to make changes to the prototypes. To do that the probe kit includes different articles to aid them. Furter along, workshops will be held to deepen the understanding arounf the context and usage.
